MathSense Tutor Terms of Service

These terms are an agreement between you and L8O LLC, San Francisco, CA 94112, United States ("MathSense", "we") for MathSense Tutor on mathsense.ai/tutor and in the MathSense Tutor app ("the Tutor"). By creating an account or using the Tutor you accept them. Our Privacy Policy explains how we handle your information.

1. What the Tutor is

The Tutor helps you work through a math problem you bring — a photo or typed problem and your own steps. It points to where your reasoning went wrong, gives hints that get stronger when you ask, and can show a full solution on request. It is a study aid. It is not a teacher, a school service or a grading service, and it can make mistakes: check important work yourself or with your teacher.

2. Who can use it

  • You must be 13 or older to create your own account and give a true birth year.
  • Children under 13 may use the Tutor only through a parent's or guardian's Family plan on mathsense.ai, where the parent creates the account and is responsible for it.
  • Students whose school gives them MathSense Homework use that service under their school's agreement, not these terms.

3. Your account

Keep your password private and tell us if you think someone else is using your account. You are responsible for what happens under it. One person per account; family members use Family profiles.

4. Free and paid plans

  • The free plan includes a number of problems and practice problems each week and a daily message limit, shown in the Tutor. We may change these limits; the Tutor always shows the current ones.
  • Paid plans (Tutor and Family) are sold on mathsense.ai, billed by Stripe, and can be cancelled at any time for the end of the billing period. Plan details, prices and change rules are on the plans page.
  • The app offers the free plan only. It contains no purchases and no subscriptions. An account with a paid plan keeps that plan on the web; in the app it uses the free plan's features.

5. Your content

Your photos, problems, steps and answers remain yours. You give us permission to store and process them to provide the Tutor, as described in the Privacy Policy. We never use them to train AI models or sell them. Only upload work you are allowed to share — not other people's personal information.

6. Fair use

Do not use the Tutor to break a school's rules (for example during a proctored exam), to abuse or probe the service, to reverse-engineer it, or to send anything unlawful. We may limit or close accounts that do.

7. The AI

The tutor's replies are produced by an AI model checked by our software. They can be wrong, incomplete or confusing. We make no promise that a reply is correct or that using the Tutor will improve a grade.

8. Ending the service

You can delete your account at any time from My data. We may suspend or close an account that breaks these terms, and we may change or stop the Tutor; if we stop a paid plan early we refund the unused part.

9. Our responsibility

The Tutor is provided "as is". To the extent the law allows, we are not liable for indirect or consequential losses, and our total liability for anything arising from the Tutor is limited to the amount you paid us in the twelve months before the claim (for the free plan, US $50). Nothing here limits rights that consumer law gives you and that cannot be waived.

10. App stores

If you use the app from the Apple App Store or Google Play, their store terms also apply. Apple and Google are not responsible for the app or its support, and have no warranty or other obligation for it; Apple and its subsidiaries are third-party beneficiaries of these terms for the app and may enforce them against you.

11. Law and disputes

These terms are governed by the laws of the State of Wyoming, United States, without regard to conflict-of-law rules, except where the consumer law of your home country or state requires otherwise. If you have a problem, write to info@mathsense.ai first; most things can be sorted out that way.

12. Changes

We may update these terms. We will post the new version with its date and, for material changes, tell you in the app or by email. Using the Tutor after that means you accept the new terms.
