Stuck on math? Find the step that went wrong — and fix it yourself
A math tutor that starts from your work
When you keep getting the wrong answer, it’s hard to know where it went wrong. Take a photo of the problem and what you have tried. The tutor checks every step, points to exactly where you got stuck, and helps you finish it yourself — no lecture, no answer given away.

Sound familiar?
Getting stuck is part of learning math. Staying stuck — or copying an answer you don’t understand — doesn’t have to be.
“I understood the example in class, but I’m stuck on the homework.”
Start from your own attempt. The tutor asks about your next step instead of re-teaching the whole lesson.
“I got it wrong and I can’t see where.”
A math engine checks every line of your arithmetic and algebra, so the tutor points to the exact step that slipped.
“I keep making the same mistakes.”
On the Tutor and Family plans it remembers the slips that come back, names the pattern gently and gives you a way to catch it.
“The explanation just didn’t help.”
Tap “I don’t understand” and it changes approach: a picture, concrete numbers, an analogy, or the skill underneath.

See it find the slip
A student gets x = −7 and can’t see why it’s wrong. The tutor doesn’t solve it for them. It checks every line, points to the one that slipped, gives one small hint when asked — and the student fixes it.
- Every line checked by a math engine before the tutor speaks
- A question first, a hint only when you ask
- You find the fix — then a similar problem so it sticks
Illustrative example — simulated student work.
MathSense Tutor
Solve 4 − 3(x − 2) = 19
Student’s work:
4 − 3(x − 2) = 19
4 − 3x − 6 = 19
−2 − 3x = 19
−3x = 21
x = −7
My work — I got x = −7 but it doesn’t work when I check it
Tutor:
Engine-checked
Nice setup — and lines 3 to 5 follow correctly from line 2. The slip is in line 2, where you multiplied out the brackets. Look at the −3 and the −2 inside. What do you get when you multiply them?
Student: Asked for: Hint
Tutor:
Hint: a negative times a negative is positive. So −3 × (−2) = ?
Student: +6… oh. I wrote −6.
Tutor:
That’s the one. Fix line 2 and keep going — send me your steps and I’ll check every line.
Student’s work:
4 − 3x + 6 = 19
10 − 3x = 19
−3x = 9
x = −3
Redone
Tutor:
Engine-checked
Every line checks out: x = −3. And you found the fix yourself. Nice work. Want to make sure it sticks?

How it works
Step 1
Show your work
Photo, upload or type. The problem and your steps — even the messy ones.
Step 2
Every line checked
A math engine verifies each step before the tutor speaks, so it never agrees with a wrong line.
Step 3
Help that fits
A question first. Then a hint, a stronger hint, a mini-lesson, a walkthrough — you choose how much.
Still stuck? It changes approach
Tap “I don’t understand” and the tutor tries a picture, concrete numbers, an analogy or the skill underneath — never the same sentence again.
The answer is yours to ask for
The full solution is one tap away when you want it. Then you get a similar problem so it actually sticks.
Mastery you can trust
A skill counts as mastered only after you solve similar problems more than once with at most a hint. Counted from what you did, not guessed by AI.
Remembers your slips
Sign errors, a term that keeps going missing, order of operations — the tutor notices what comes back and brings it up gently.

Honest about AI
Every tutor message is labelled, and says whether a math engine checked the work.
For parents
Help at 9pm that never does the work for them
The tutor starts from your child’s own work and never hands over the answer unasked: it asks for the next step, gives a hint only when your child asks, and shows a full solution only when they choose it — followed by a similar problem so it sticks.
With the Family plan you sign up once and add up to three children as profiles under your login. Each child gets their own tutor and progress; you get a parent dashboard that shows progress, not conversations. Children under 13 use the tutor this way — the parent creates the account and adds them.
